Mafia

A few players are secretly mafia. Each night they pick someone to eliminate; each day the whole table argues and votes someone out.

The cards

What each person is holding

Mafia

Wake at night and pick someone to eliminate. By day, act innocent. Your card shows the other mafia.

Doctor

Each night, choose one person to protect from the mafia.

Detective

Each night, point at one person and the narrator tells you if they're mafia.

Villager

No power at night. Find the mafia by listening and voting.

Narrator

Only when the host turns on "I'll narrate": you run the night and see every role.

A round

How it goes

  1. 01

The host deals. Everyone presses and holds their card to see their role, then lets go.

  2. 02

Night: everyone closes their eyes. The narrator wakes the mafia, who silently agree on someone, then the doctor, then the detective.

  3. 03

Day: everyone opens their eyes and hears who was eliminated. Talk, accuse, then vote one person out.

  4. 04

Repeat. The town wins when every mafia is out; the mafia win when they match the town in number.

  5. 05

When it's over, the host taps Reveal all to show who was who.

Worth knowing

  • Without a narrator, the host plays too and someone calls the night phases from memory.
